The book, "Outliers," states that Bill Gates had the opportunity as a child to spend many hours with computers, including writing programs for school, hacking into systems and so on. By the time he was an adult he had insights as to where the business might go. He is the founder of Microsoft with Paul Allen after some convoluted contract work with Xerox, IBM and Apple, but was not the sole author of DOS or Windows. He has also benefited from his association with Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet and others.
