Well, nirvana is not an idea. It is a state that you can achieve. In the mystical telling of Buddha's(Siddhartha) story, Siddhartha achieved nirvana under a bodhi tree. Nirvana is the state of being free from suffering. You should really just open a book about Buddhism, it is pretty interesting.
