Best phrase politicians could come up with at the time to separate it from "hot" wars. Cold War=No War Hot War=Shooting War
The Cold War come on guys, that one was easy, did you really have to look it up?
so they can warm it up.
in a cold war, there is no shooting whatsoever, in a hot war, there are hot girls shooting at each other.
There weren't any "war criminals" during the cold war, because the cold war WAS NOT a war. The Cold War was simply a term that politician's came up with regarding the arms race between the communist super powers and the United States and it's allies. The Cold War was actually an ARM's RACE; a military stand-off...who could out do the the other. Who could make the best jet...who could build the best submarine...who could reach the moon first.
It did not effect the cold war in anyway
Johnson was unwillingly caught up in the hot battle (Vietnam War) of the Cold War. Johnson was the US's only Presidential Administration to be destroyed by the war. He went on nation wide television and flat out said he would not run for president again, and would NOT ACCEPT nomination for the presidency of the United States. He was truly fed-up with the war.

Yes-Most peoples don't have to worry (or stress out) about "mush-room clouds" (atomic bombs going off) suddenly appearing out of no-where anymore. No-Terrorists have taken their place. At least during the cold war, global security was so concerned about "the cold war", terrorists were unable to communicate with each other...if they did communicate with each other; THEY would have been taken as part of the cold war (they would have been caught up in it).

the two power blocs that made up Cold War politics
America and (USSR)Russia were the two superpowers of the cold war. America was the democracy side and they were trying to beat the USSR. America was more advanced in World War II and Russia was actually very technology unadvanced. After world war II, the USSR caught up and started making nuclear weapons. The USA was responding to this and they affected the cold war by responding to the USSR's " Threats ". The USA made nuclear weapons too, competed in the space race, and much more.Hope I helped

The main "isms" of the Cold War were Socialism and Communism, both of which came up against Capitalism.
