European farmers played a significant role in the success of farming on the Great Plains. They brought with them new agricultural techniques and technology, such as improved plows and machinery. They also introduced new crops that thrived in the region's soil and climate, such as wheat. Additionally, European immigrants established successful farming communities and shared their knowledge and experiences with other settlers, contributing to the overall growth and development of agriculture on the Great Plains.

What inventions had an impact on agriculture and farming in the west?

Well we will start with the dawn of mechenised farming; the Agricultural Revolution, which came about just before the Industrial Revolution. The first major mechanical aid; the seed drill was dreamed up by jethro tull, in 1701, and allowed farmers to sow seed without vast wastage. Before the seed drill farmers had a ryme, one for the pigeon, one for the crow, one to rot and one to grow. The first iron pough to have any success was invented by Josef Foljerbe's in 1730, This plough continued to be used until the invention of the tractor which we will come to later. The first mechanical threshing machine, came about in 1786, and was the brain child of Andrew miekle. Tractors first came into use in 1855 and were pioneered by John Fowler. The three field crop rotation system has been used since the middle ages, but i wasnt until turnip townsend that the 4 field crop rotation system was introduced. Hope this helps
