In the local area a folley (also spelt folly) is a relatively narrow and enclosed walkway used by pedestrians or multiple residents of a particular area of housing. Generally speaking they are either between two buildings or to the rear of a property and separated from its grounds by a tall wall or fence. In Colchester there is Castle Park Folley which, although not it's original purpose, separates the upper and lower parts of the park. There is Kendall Road Folley which provides access to the rear of the properties in Kendall Road but is most likely used by pedestrians not living in Kendall Road as a "cut-through." So, in answer to your question folley is not someone's name. Camp Folley (North / South) simply means a folley going to, from or alongside the Army camp. John Rowley
