George Washington captured Boston by doing absolutely nothing. He placed his army above the city. The British did not know which route he would follow for his attack. So one night they got on boats and sailed away.
He also used subterfuge. He had some cannon aimed at the city. He had even more fake cannon carved from wood aimed at the city. The British thought he had far more artillery than he actually possessed.
