For Street View imagery the date of a Street View is displayed bottom right of the image (but not the time). For dates of base imagery try Google Earth for the same scene which shows the imagery date. Google Earth (unlike Google Maps) has historical imagery showing all previous versions of imagery that Google has for the particular area.

Can you walk in Google Earth?
The new Google Earth 6.0 and 6.1 versions have a new ground level view working in parallel to the Street View mode. In this mode you can "walk" around at ground level seeing either Street View imagery or 3-D buildings. You can toggle between Street View and ground-level with a click on an icon. You move with the up/down arrow keys or the mouse. Note that not all areas with have Street View imagery and/or 3-D buildings.
How can Google prove you used their street view image in commercial work?

If a commercial work is published online or otherwise where a Google Street View image or Google trademark is used inappropriately then Google has the legal authority to take action. Proving an infringement is up to the lawyers but such an event would be unpleasant and costly for all parties involved.

Why doesn't Greece have street view on Google Maps?
Only museum views for Greece have been added to date. Both the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian and the Acropolis Museum in Greece were added to Google Street View through the Google Art Project in 2012. Street View is not yet available in all countries. Greece as listed is one that will be added in the future. The world is a big place and Google is striving to cover the entire world, but it takes time. New countries are added as often as possible.
