Henry VII was a very paranoid king. After being crowned he decided that he did not want any of his own people to try and overthrow him and steal his rights to the throne. He came up with the idea that the noblemen would have to earn their rights to land and titles by showing that they could be trusted, rather than giving them land ad titles in order to bribe them into trusting him (which had been tradition in the English reign). This meant that fewer noblemen had power during his period of kingship.
Henry VII has also been known for attainting his noblemen, typically confiscating land and arresting. There may have been a few cases where he had his nobles killed. One example of attaintment which Henry VII was responsible for was that of Thomas Earl of Surrey, who was arrested and had his land taken away from him, despite being completely faithful to the king.
