Hitler made certain rules once war broke out in Europe. These were things like curfews, restrictions on radio programming, free speech, and cracking down on anything anti-German, especially things pro-Jewish. This let Hitler have control on everything people did.

P.S.

If you read the book Prisoner B-3078 by Alan Gratz, there are some good examples of this. The book is about a teenager in Germany who worked to spread news of German losses and tried to spread the truth. It shows some of the things banned and controlled by the Nazi Government.
