The question asked by it's nature does not admit to some short and sweet answer. There are many books on it. For the historical facts of his rise, William Shirer's, "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" is probably the definitive work.

For some insights into the psychology of the disaffected that made up such a large part of the Nazi movement, "The True Believer" might help.

How he gained power in brief was by the recruitment of the disaffected, of which appealing to "national pride" played a large role. He also gained power by being the "zero point" - in other words, men of real power couldn't agree as to which one of them should have it, and each of them thought they could control Hitler, so they all agreed to let him be the figurehead.

However, when he was then appointed as Chancellor, he promptly had his minions kill off a majority of the Cabinet, and the Vice-Chancellor, leaving him effectively in absolute command. The men of power then had to take his orders, rather then give him orders as they had hoped.

in 1934, a year after seizing power, Hitler ordered an increase in the armed forces. the army was to grow from 100,000 to 300,000 men. the navy was to build submarines and two battleships. an air force was to be created. This was forbidden by the treaty of Versailles. if the allies found out there was a risk they would invade Germany. so the armed forces expanded in secret. air force pilots trained in flying clubs and bombers were disguised as airliners. in 1935 Hitler felt stong enough tto start rearming openly. he announced that all men would have to do military service when they reached 18 and that the army would grow to 550,000 men. as Hitler had caluclated, the Allies protested, but did not stop him.

The question is a trick . They didn't restore German pride. The Nazis were a failed organization and ultimately lost the wars they fought. This is probably a homework question, too (it's WAY too specific to be anything else), and I really would like to give you an answer, but the thing is: there is none.
