The Nazis did of course kill large numbers of Poles, many of whom were RCs, but they were killed for acts of defiance against the Nazis, not for being RC.

At least 3,000 Catholic priests, deacons, and bishops were imprisoned at Dachau concentration camp. 1,034 priests died there. Other clergymen at Dachau included 109 Protestant ministers, 22 Greek Orthodox, 2 Muslims

Hitler saw the church was the most dangerous impediment to his power in Germany, and as his biographers have noted, spent much time trying to pressure the church into silence.

When Dutch bishops spoke out publicly, Hitler had 40,000 people arrested, but the church increased its efforts to save Jews by issuing forged documents to protect them. The state of Israel says the Catholic church saved 800,000 Jews: more than any other country or organization.

Alas, it's not surprising that some refuse to do their homework, on the "highly misleading" deaths of priests and other clergy. Hitler, while he obviously saved the worst of his hatred for the Jewish population, was abundantly clear on his intentions for Catholics, in particular, and Christians in general.

He closed religious schools, shut down Christian organizations, confiscated church property, and ordered the murder of priests and the German leader of Catholic Action. His own words make it clear that the persecution had everything to do with their faith:

"Christianity is an invention of sick brains....The war will be over one day. I shall then consider that my life's final task will be to solve the religious problem…For the moment I am just keeping my eye upon them: if I ever have the slightest suspicion that they are getting dangerous, I will shoot the lot of them."

The notion that the faith of those executed clergy and their opposition were somehow unrelated is peculiar at best (and, at worst, redolent of older religious rivalries). Indeed, Hitler's biographers note the time and effort he put into trying to co-opt the Christian churches in the 1930s.

Yes he did. His regime especially went after Catholic priests. Although he made a pact with the Pope and promised not to bother the church if priests did not speak against him, Hitler broke that promise.

In 1937, the Pope issued an official statement condemning Hitler, which enraged him and caused him to increase persecution of Catholics. He even went so far as to have a special area in the Dachau concentration camp called the "Pfarrerblock" ("Priest Section").

Catholisism was a competitor for the hearts and minds of the people, he wanted them to be obedient to him rather than the Pope. He did however allow Roman Catholic masses to be given to his troops throughout the war and maintained a relationship with the Pope.
