Magyarország (The Hungarian name for their country) is derived from the Magyar tribe that settled in Hungary. The Magyar tribe was one of the many tribes united under the Huns. In basic terms, the name means Hungarian Country. Magyar for Hungarian, and orszag for Country. (that is not an actual translation)

The name "Hungary" Is probably a combination of the Hun empire and a mispronunciation of Magyar.

people of that ages believed that huns(died out, assimilated) and magyars(ancestors of today's blue-blooded noble hungarans) are the same. the truth is that they are only two tribes of a kind. those peoples came from east with horses and arrows. there were a few hundred years between them. hungarians don't believe themseves huns.
