Answer 1
Israel won the 1948 war because they were desperate to survive as a viable country in an area surrounded by vicious enemies.

Answer 2

There are several factors underlying Israeli victory in the 1948 War.

Much More At Stake: Since the Israelis knew that a loss in this war would mean that their state would be extinguished as opposed to the Arabs who had little to lose, the Israelis were more strongly motivated to win.

Unified Command Structure: Although at the beginning of the war, the Israeli militias functioned independently, by mid-1948, the Haganah and Palmach united under a central command structure: the IDF. The Arabs by contrast were bitterly divided. The only thing they could agree on was that they wanted to remove Israel from the map. Nearly all of the border countries (but Jordan most strongly) wanted to annex the territory to their own countries. With seven national armies and two distinct Palestinian Militias, the lack of of information-sharing led to numerous locations being over-defended or under-defended.

Military Expertise: While many of the Arab Generals had never commanded a modern army, several of the Israeli Generals had experience in World War II. This gave them an incredible advantage, especially when it came to taking the Galilee from Syrian and Lebanese forces, who did not know how to move artillery in mountainous and hilly terrain.

Israel won the war in 1948. Since then, Israel has fought some controversial wars, but this one was a war of survival. If Israel had lost the war in 1948, there would have been no Israel afterward.

There are two questions here that are both important to answer.

Firstly, there is a question of whether or not Israelis actually won the Yom Kippur War. Those that say that it did, show that Egypt lost the Yom Kippur War because they failed to secure their primary objective, the Sinai Peninsula, which remained in Israeli hands after hostilities had ceased. Egyptians counter that Israelis suffered defeats early in the war when they were caught off-guard. Also, in the early armistice negotiations, Israelis had to make the first moves of withdrawal from African Egyptian territory.

There is no question that the Israelis won the Arab-Israeli War on the Syrian front, halting within 40 kilometers (25 miles) of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Secondly, assuming that the Israeli perspective is held, the Israelis note that the Egyptians called the armistice as Israeli soldiers were advancing on Cairo and that the Egyptian Third Army was cutoff and dependent on Israeli goodwill for food and basic supplies. The Egyptians counter saying that they were holding the powerful Egyptian Third Army on the east bank of the Suez Canal, primed to strike. They called the ceasefire to spare both sides more violence.

In Syria, while there were small Syrian advances into the Golan, they were quickly turned back through strategic and decisive tank movements.

Who would win in a war between Egypt and Israel?

Unknown, but it is an unlikely scenario as Egypt and Israel buried the hatchet long ago. Previously, Egypt and Israel fought several wars, most notably the Yom Kippur War of 1973 when Egypt carried out a brilliant surprise attack on the Israeli-occupied Sinai Peninsula. Israel eventually drove Egypt back but at a very heavy cost. After Egypt and Israel made peace, the Sinai was ceded back to Egypt and the two countries have not fought since.

In a war between just Israel and Syria who would win?

If America went all out, America would win. However the people in America do not want war. There would be an uproar if we went into a full war sending all our troops to Iran. If just the current amount of troops that are in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, etc. went in it would be another story. FINAL ANSWER: if America went in full on it would be America on top.
