Winnie saw Jesse in the woods and he was drinking the water
Sometime between 1776 and 1777. Winnie was born in 1870; she was 10 years old but would be 11 pretty soon when she met Jesse. Jesse was 104 when he met Winnie in the wood. 1880-104 = 1776. Would the year 1776 be symbolic?
Jesse asked Winnie to go back to the spring and drink it .
No, because Winnie in her entire life she has always been rerserved and guarded her family did not allow her to have her freedom, she was always told what to do. When Winnie met Jesse he was the complete opposite of how her life was, he was laid-back, he had the opportunity to whatever he wanted, he was fun and most all of he was a free spirit. He had the life Winnie so desired, as she got to know him better she develops from a interest to a crush to him, just like any young girl she woud develop a crush. In the story it also mentions how beautiful Jesse was in Winnie's opion, that also is another reason why I wasn't surprised of Winnie's interest in Jesse
Jesse does
it certainly is!
The water Jesse gave Winnie
Jesse is sitting on the floor of the woods , drinking from the spring
On page 114 it will say Jesse gave Winnie the spring.
The water from the spring for Winnie to drink when she turns seventeen.
Jesse told Winnie that the water is dirty as it comes straight from the ground and would not be good for her to drink. But this was not the real reason why. The actual reason was that Winnie would become immortal like Jesse by drinking from the spring.
