How did Jesus look when He died?

Jesus was beaten and whipped before He died on the cross. The Bible says that He did not resemble a man anymore the soldiers had whipped and beaten him so hard. He wore a crown of thorns, as the soldiers were mocking Him.

There are a number of accounts of Jesus being seen* by others after He rose from the dead. For the most part Jesus looked like you or me, a human being. There was clear evidence of the wounds** He suffered on the cross still visible. The book of Revelation shows another aspect of Jesus' appearance after His resurrection. In chapter one John sees Christ as the glorified Son of God.*** In His glory Christ's appearance is not like His appearance on earth. The description of Jesus' appearance in Revelation 1 is similar to other accounts in the Old Testament of what the prophets saw when they encountered God.****

When Jesus came to earth, He came in appearance as one of us, having temporarily left behind His divine glory. However, from ages past, before His coming two thousand years ago, and forever after His time on earth, Christ appears in His divine glory.

*John 20:19 19So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you."

Contrary to how artists have portrayed Our Lord down through the centuries, He Would Have been Completely Naked while on the Cross. He Would not Have had a towel tied around His Waist. Our Lord Would Have looked Bloodied & Bruised, while He Had Hung there. He Would Have been a Terrible Sight to see.

According to the gospels, he must have looked like a different man, because the disciples did not recognise him (Luke), and Mary Magdalene thought that he was the gardener (John). However, this was not simply because he looked like a man who had been crucified, since the disciples would have realised that the poor man was Jesus. Nor would Mary have thought that a man who looked as if he had been crucified was only the gardener. Nevertheless, in Luke and John, he was able to show his scars.
