Scott Cam was very worried when he discovered a large lump on his dog, Lizzie. Lizzie is the site manager on Backyard Blitz. The lump suddenly appeared on her front leg, and grew at a tremendous rate. Scott took Lizzie to see the Burke's Backyard consulting veterinarian, Dr Rob Zammit. Rob decided to remove the lump immediately, along with a second lump on Lizzie's chest. The chest lump was a harmless lipoma, or fatty tumour. Rob was concerned that the leg lump could possibly be malignant, so it was sent to pathology for analysis. Scott had to wait an agonising 10 days to find out whether or not his dog had cancer. However, the news was good. Lizzie's pathology results showed that the growth was benign. If you notice any lumps on your pet, it is important to take the animal to the vet without delay. Rob explained that small lumps can be dealt with quickly and without too much drama, whereas large lumps can be much more complicated and difficult to remove.
