he lied about the Tet offensive, giving fake optimisms about it, trying not to let the hope of America down. every one despised him after that. overall he was not a good president.

Edit: Actually, Lyndon B. Johnson wasn't that bad of a president. He passed many laws that helped society, including Medicare and Medicaid. He also passed civil rights laws, picking up from where Kennedy left off. The only reason people don't like him was the Vietnam War, as stated above. However it was the Gulf of Tonkin that he lied about, not the Tet Offensive.
