MARCO POLO helped thirteenth centry Europe gain access to the far east. he established conections with the emporer of China...who he visited for 20 years. He made the world couriuos as to what the far east held. no one really knew a lot about them or the orient. His book the Travels of Marco Polo captured many with his discriptions of the "Kingdoms and marvels of the East." he brought spices, silks, porcelain, and many other treasures back to Italy.
Well, benefitting society means the good things he did, correct? Marco Polo brought pride to Europe because he was the first European to cross the entire silk road successfully!
