I don't know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) is really known for "promoting sanity", but they certainly don't promote insanity. Here are some ways in which the Mormon church might be considered supporters of sanity:
-The Church advocates abstaining from addictive and mind-altering substances such as alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. When the body is free from addictions and you are fully in control of your faculties, you are less likely to experience insanity. The Church offers free addiction recovery programs to the public in most cities.
-one of the central teachings of the church is "agency" or free-will. The Church teaches that everyone has the right to their own opinions and beliefs, and that all people should be free to make their own choices. In fact, the freedom to act for oneself is essential to God's plan. By promoting freedom of thought, the church promotes sanity and makes a stand against coercion, brainwashing, and mind-control.
-In recent years the church has taken strides to eliminate the stigma and misconceptions about metal illness. Recent sermons by church leaders have discussed mental illness and advocated medical treatment for metal illnesses just as for physical injuries. Those struggling with mental illness should be thought of as "crazy", but should be treated just as someone with a physical ailment.
-The church also takes a strong stance against abuse in all forms. Abuse is often found to be a contributor to insanity, brainwashing, and mental disorders later in life.
