Ned Kelly was a famous bushranger in Australia. He was famous for the siege at Glenrowan where he held an entire town hostage. The Ned Kelly gang had a shot out with police and Ned was shot twenty eight times in the legs. Ned survived the gun shots but was sentenced and hung in 1880.
When Ned Kelly was at the age of 11 he saved a drowning boy his own age. Ned Kelly was given a green sash from the father of the boy and praise from the local people. He would later wear the sash at the siege of Glenrowan as proof (to himself more than others) that he was a good man.

He was 19 when he died at Glenrowan in the siege on June 28 1880. Dan Kelly and Steve Hart were injured just before the police set the Glenrowan Inn on fire and their bodies were burnt. A man has stepped forward claiming to be Dan Kelly, but this has never been proven.
