Italian Army in Russia ended in 1943.
He did not. The war was ended by the Union Army defeating the Confederate Army.
It takes place in 1812, so at this moment Napoleon is on his 8th year of full victories all around Europe. The "Great Army" as he named it himself, counted 600,000 soldiers. Only about 30,000 of his soldiers came back from Russia, the Great Army was destroyed. And from there it was the begining of the end.
1812 was the year of Napoleon's invasion of Russia, which ended in disaster for him. It is generally considered the beginning of the end of his Empire.
Russia's military strategies were much the same as that of their contemporary states Austria and Prussia. When Napoleon invaded Russia, in 1812, they used a scorched earth strategy to defeat him.
He fought in a lot of Wars: he won most of them, but the invasion of Russia was a failure and the final battle against the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo marked the end of his military career.
When Russia withdrew from the Continental System, Napoleon in 1810 decided to invade Russia. He assembled a huge army in eastern Germany and Poland that numbered approximately 700,000 troops. This was the largest military operation ever created in modern times. In 1812 he led his army into Russia. His intent was a short sharp victory to crush the Russian Czar. With this in mind he carried only a three month supply of food and ordinance. Napoleon sought a decisive victory to quickly end the war, however, the Russians retreated and escaped the trap of fighting Napoleon head on.Napoleon always sought numerical superiority in troops when entering a battle. When he met the main Russian army at Borodino, the Russians outnumbered his troops. Napoleon, however was victorious at Borodino. He lost 30,000 troops while the Russians lost 50,000. On September 12, 1812, Napoleon entered Moscow. He tried to have Czar Alexander to negotiate a peace favorable to himself, however, Alexander was no where to be found. He held Moscow for five weeks and then decided to retreat back to eastern Europe. By this time however, Winter had set in. Napoleon's retreat back into Europe was a disaster. His soldiers starved and froze to death in the harsh Russian Winter. Discipline broke down and his forces were harassed by Russian sneak attacks. The invasion was not successful. He did occupy Moscow, but to no great advantage. He entered Russia with 600,000 troops. 100,000 were captured, another 400,000 died from battle, starvation and disease. This was a terrible defeat for Napoleon.
By defeating and capturing the wholeBritish Army under Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown.
Napoleon is one of the finest military Commanders in History. Following the Revoultion & the Reign of Terror Napoleon is given command of the Army of Italy, against the Austrians. his campaining is brilliant & his rise meteoric. The Code Napoleon to this day forms much of the basis of Law in France: As an administrator Napoleon is phenominal. As time passes the defeats in Russia, at Leipzig & finally at Waterloo end his reign. It is undoubted that Napoleon changes France out of all recognition, despite the failings that Napoleon had, in terms of the French & France, Napoleon Bonaparte was very good indeed. Bad, to some people for the fact that he conquered the countries. He was also a great leader which is how we remember him today.
