Saint Augustine believed that the purpose of war should be to establish peace and order, not for conquest or personal gain. He argued that war should only be waged as a last resort in defense of justice and the common good. Augustine emphasized the importance of pursuing peace and reconciliation whenever possible.
Saint Augustine was the first city founded in the United States. St. Augustine was founded in 1565, forty-two years before Jamestown and fifty-five years before the pilgrims landed at Pilgrims Rock.
Saint Augustine believed that evil was the absence or privation of good, rather than a positive entity itself. He argued that evil exists when a being or thing falls short of its intended purpose or divine plan, leading to a deprivation of goodness. Augustine also emphasized the human capacity for free will as a contributing factor to the presence of evil in the world.
Saint Augustine of Hippo emphasized the importance of free will in his theological writings, arguing that it is a gift from God that allows humans to choose between good and evil. He believed that while divine grace is essential for salvation, free will enables individuals to accept or reject that grace. Augustine contended that the misuse of free will leads to sin, but it is also through free will that people can seek redemption and establish a relationship with God. Ultimately, he viewed free will as integral to the moral responsibility of individuals.

The Spanish founded a settlement in what is now Florida and named it Saint Augustine. It is considered historic because it was the first European settlement in what is now the United States (founded in 1565, forty years before Jamestown). Saint Augustine was also the capital of Spanish Florida for two centuries.
I would hope that you do not imitate the first 30-32 years of his life, before he converted. During those years he was not a very good role model.

He arrived in 595AD - Augustine (later Saint Augustine) and his party of monks and priests set out from Rome in 595 to convert Saxons to Christianity, eventually arriving in Kent, England in 597. Augustine met England's King Ethelbert on the Isle of Thanet. A double throne was set up for the king and his queen Bertha, and Augustine and his monks advanced towards the throne singing Latin hymns. Augustine was then allowed to tell to the king and his court the story of Christ. Finally he begged his listeners to give up their heathen gods and to become Christians. Ethelbert thanked them for coming s far to try to do his people good. "Your words are fair," said he, "but of doubtful meaning. My people may do as they like, but the gods and my fathers are good enough for me." It is said that the delighted face of Queen Bertha, however, showed Augustine and his missionaries that she knew that all was well, and within twelve months Ethelbert himself with ten thousand of his subjects became Christians. I disagree. To "be good" is to follow the golden rule: do unto others as you would they do unto you, a moral principle that is worded differently in other religions but always means the same thing.
