How did Saint Ignatius of Antioch become a Christian?

Below is a link to the Catholic Encyclopedia article on St. Ignatius of Antioch, third Bishop of the Antioch. There is an ancient legend recounted by several of the fathers, although without modern substantiation that Ignatius was the child that Our Blessed Lord took in His arms in the St. Mark's Gospel 9:35. There is substantiantion that Ignatius was consecrated bishop by the hands of the Apostles themselves so we can assume that Ignatius was a disciple of the Apostles.
