Itachi could of actually killed sasuke with susanoo but his goal was to get rid of the curse mark that OROCHIMARU gave him during the chunin exams------A.Using the manyeko does not kill you... Both the sickness and sasuke killed Itachi, and fighting Itachi may have sped the sickness up which killed him and Sasuke was the one who triggered it. But if you ask the author of the series, he would say that Sasuke did in fact kill Itachi. Itachi wanted Sasuke to kill him. We know that Sasuke, like other characters in the series is very smart. He would of thought of that already. But since the story isn't exactly real, you would have to ask the author because he created the story and he would know.

( it is unclear weather sasukes sharingan is eternal or not ) so then madara tells sasuke all of this and after a long time of thinking sasuke excepts the truth and falls into a deep hatred for the hidden leaf village for making his brother do such a horrible thing. and now sasuke wants to destroy the hiddden leaf village. and his group hawk has joined akutski and madara gives sasuke itachi's eyes so while sasuke is healing from the procedure madara & kabuto created the next ninja war & i believe that is where naruto & sasuke will have there final battle oh & btw naruto is training with bee to take control of the nine tails chakra just like bee

: Itachi died because of his over use of the Sharingan, tsukuyomi and amaterasu... He was already dying (using drugs to stay alive) until the day he meets with Sasuke. Sasuke did wound Itachi during their battle, but he did NOT kill Itachi. Itachi let Sasuke Think that he killed him. Who is better Sasuke or itachi?
Itachi at 13 years old submitted to a life sentence because of his duty as a shinobi. His dreams of creating a better world and for world peace by becoming a Homage was literally thrown out of the window. His remaining hope for he future was for his younger brother was to avenge their clan and freeing Itachi from his hell. Sasuke on the other hand, never investigated or found out the real reason why Itachi did what he did. Obito has to spoon-fed it to him, and then he went to go against his elder brother's wishes and lashed out, once again, and killed the man (the complete ahole elder, Danzo). I tachi could have killed Danzo if he wanted to, but he did not. That was how truly honourable this shinobi was compared to Sasuke. So the answer to your question: ITACHI.
