SkyClan was originally part of the five clans. They were the tree watchers, eating mostly tree prey like birds and squirrels.
However SkyClan's territory was being invaded by two-legs (humans) and the other four Clans did not offer any hospitality or any kind of solution, instead the other four Clans drove SkyClan out.
SkyClan went far away to live on their owns, but later SkyClan was nearly wiped out by a band of rats (you can read this in Firestar's Prophecy).
However in Firestar's Prophecy, Firestar and Sandstorm go and make the new SkyClan.
