Actually they used a wheel to measure around the side of the pyramids. Why?

This is because they knew that if they used rope to measure it would shrink or expand due to the weather; they did not use wood to measure because it was not readily available. if you divide one side of the side of the pyramid by pie you will almost get a whole number.
