No one really knows. Some people say because of the Ice age some say meteors from the moon or space and also people say because of the envirment,they couldn't survive in the new envirment that was forming and died out. No one will ever know.

Because it was so large, adult Apatosaurus probably only lifted one foot at a time, and thus walked slowly compared to its enormous size. However, very young Apatosaurus were capable of fleeing predators by running bipedally, similar to a basilisk.
