he is weak like the ibis he is "lost " like the ibis far from where he should be and survived up util a given point. The ibis and doodle were red and their legs were weak ......... hope that helped ^^

Ok so Doodle was born very fragile and since the Scarlet ibis was an obvious omen to Doodle's death, it shows that they bothe died from being in an enviroment they weren't meant to be in, along with physical extertion. Also, since Doodle was born with heart problems, and the hints at the end of the story saying that he was bleeding from the mouth show that he died from a broken heart, physically and metaphorically
