Long distances and physical barriers separated China from Egypt, the Middle East, and India. The isolation contributed to the Chinese belief that China was the center of earth. These beliefs in turn led the ancient China to call their land Zhongguo (jahng gwoh), or the Middle Kingdom. To the west and southwest of China, brutal deserts and high mountain ranges-the Tian Shan (tyen shahn) and the Himalayas-blocked the easy movement of people. To the southeast, thick rainforests divided China from Southeast Asia. To the North awaited a forbidding dessert, the Gobi. To the east lay the vast Pacific Ocean.
China was the fourth of the Early River Valley Civilization. The two main geographical characteristics with China are rivers and mountains. This civilization took start between two river systems, the Hung He and the Yangtze. North China lies between these two major rivers. Geography affected early civilizations by how the people could live and work. A lot of people settle by rivers to make it easier to live and get an ample water supply. Only small part of the landscape is good for farming the South China. The habitats chose that plain because it is covered with wind-blown yellow soil called loses. The Huang He is one of the muddiest rivers in the world. Farmers learned to grow rice near Yangtze, the water melted from the mountains and caused floods that helped to grow the rice. In the southern climate, Chinese farmers could grow food, make cloth and weave baskets. Because of China's geography, the villages were not interacting with each other. But when China's Dynasties begins, people get closer. also they were cool. do you want to know why? well to bad
