Since there was never an arrest and trial, many of the particulars of this case may never be known. The evidence says the theory of an intruder is not likely. That narrows the list of suspects considerably. That leads to the Ramseys.

There are several scenario's that may fit the facts. Jon Benet may have been killed accidentally by John or Patsy Ramsey, then in a panic staged the crime scene to look like a child abduction. Burke Ramsey has been eliminated for obvious reasons. He was only 9 in December 1996 and did not possess the physical strenth needed to carry out this particular crime. He also lacked a motive.

Jon Benet may have screamed or cried out while being molested and was garroted to death to keep her quiet. Statistically speaking, men outnumber women for this type of crime. John Ramsey would not be the first if he was in fact abusing his daughter. Of course this theory cannot exonerate Patsy. Mothers do kill their children, even wealthy upper middle class women like Patsy Ramsey.

What is known is, this seemed to be a child molestation gone terribly wrong. Jon Benet had both acute and chronic signs of sexual abuse. The molestation had been happening for some time before she died. The desparate attempt to stage the crime scene, write a rambling ransom note and rehearse a cover story, fairly screams 'amature'.

Sinced the murder of Jon Benet, Patsy Ramsey's ovarian cancer returned and has passed away. John Ramsey, relocated to Atlanta and has remarried. Just recently the Boulder DA made the announcement that the Ramsey's had been 'cleared' in the death of their daughter. This statement was based on no new evidence, but what was compiled years ago in the early months after the murder. Reguardless of the DA's statement, the facts and evidence have not changed.
