How did life for upper-class women change during the renaissance?

Life for upper-class women, as opposed to working class women, declined. This change was due to era that preceded it (the middle-ages). During this time, women played more of a domestic role and were more permissive and servile (their primary role was to manage the household and bear children). However, during this period their were many literate and educated females that neither advanced nor pushed feminist attitudes (they did defend educated upper-class women though). Women during this time, and before it, were treated as property and had many of the constraints that were placed on them generations before (misogynistic attitudes e.g. marriage and the role of women). A perfect example of this (e.g) is Leonardo of Da Vinci and his attitudes and prejudices against the ladies (albeit his sexual preferences). The women body, in many ways, was the inspiration of many an artist (the nude form) but men were mostly depicted.

Even though it wasn't a rebirth of an idea it was still an renaissance ideal in that it re-birthed women in general to a higher status in society. Women before the renaissance were insignificant. During and after the rebirth they played bigger roles in society as artist and writer. Both of which were originally only men's occupations.
