The transition to agriculture began around 10,000 years ago, when hunter-gatherer societies started intentionally planting and cultivating crops. This shift occurred independently in multiple parts of the world, likely in response to climate changes and the depletion of wild food sources. Over time, these early agricultural practices transformed human societies, enabling the development of settled communities, complex civilizations, and the growth of populations.
