Basically everything they made in Pompeii got traded and everything made other places came to Pompeii it was a wonderful center of trade thanks to the Bay of Naples. Pompeii had many merchants selling clothes foods decorations all the normal stuff of today and you would buy all those things from the merchants which traded Pompeii goods for the stuff there selling. :)

They don't. That's right, people don't live in Pompeii any more. The better question here is: How "did" people make a living in Pompeii.
The people of Pompeii ignored the earthquake of 63 for the same reason that the people around the area today, although aware of the danger, still remain. The area is their home. They live and make their livings there. Pompeii had experienced earthquakes and tremors before so no one thought anything of it.The people of Pompeii ignored the earthquake of 63 for the same reason that the people around the area today, although aware of the danger, still remain. A disadvantage is that the volcano would kill you. An advantage is living in pompeii - Thomius Goldstonavit III
Pompeii was not a city where wealthy people went. It was an average, working, Roman town. Not to say that there were not wealthy people living in Pompeii, there were, just as in any other city, but they were generally the people who made their wealth in Pompeii and so belonged to the city's upper class. The wealthy went to the city of Herculaneum or to Stabiae or Oplontis, which were resort towns.

The people of Pompeii primarily descended from indigenous Italic tribes, while also incorporating influences from Greek settlers and later Roman conquerors. The city's population was a mix of local Italians, immigrants, and expatriates, creating a diverse and cosmopolitan community.
They were known as Italians, being that that is where Pompeii is situated. But, people from Pompeii are called Pompeians.

Pompeii was a desirable place to live for two main reasons. Firstly, the soil was very fertile, due to Mount Vesuvius, which was very close. The people of Pompeii didn't know that Vesuvius was a volcano, so were unaware that it was the cause for the fertile land. Secondly and lastly, the location of Pompeii was close to the Bay of Naples, therefore, it provided the necessary transportation for traders. Pompeii was a very busy town with people bustling about, and it can be said that there were many amenities of life.
