Suez canal was built as if anyone would travel from europe to india they had go all the way to cape of hope and then go to india.Because of this canal we can directly go to india through medditaranian sea.

What is the importance the Suez Canal?

when it was built much trading was done between Europe and India. before it was built to trade sailors had to sail around the cape of good hope i.e. the southern tip of Africa. After it was built sailors simply sailed into the Mediterranean Sea until they reached the canal, which connects to the Indian ocean which means over a thousands of less miles traveled LESS TRAVEL=MORE PROFIT!
