I believe you are speaking about Romans 5:12, which reads, "that is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." This text helps us to see how Adam's sin effected all of his offspring. God warned both Adam and Eve in Genesis 2:17 that if they were to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, then they would positively die the day they ate from it. Later in Genesis 3:6, both Adam and Eve ate from the tree. Adam truly "sold" himself and all of us, his offspring, into slavery to sin and death as brought out in Romans 7:14. Adam and Eve willfully chose to give up their perfect everlasting life, and therefore died. Just like a dented bread pan that makes a loaf of bread with an imperfection, so do we have sin and pass it down. However, we have hope for one day attaining ever lasting life in a perfect state, because of Jesus' ransom sacrifice. Hence, in Romans 5:19, it is made clear that we were given a second chance. More importantly that second chance will be here on earth (Psalm 37:11). For further information you may request a publication entitled "What Does The Bible Really Teach?" published by Jehovah's Witnesses. Chapter 5 speaks about how sin entered the world.

What are three essential elements that make a sin mortal?

In Christian theology, three essential elements that make a sin mortal are grave matter (serious wrongdoing), full knowledge of the sinfulness of the act, and deliberate consent in committing the sin. When all three elements are present, a sin is considered mortal and believed to sever one's relationship with God until repentance and forgiveness are sought.

1John chap 5 verse 17 All unrighteousness is sin and there is a sin not leading to death?

There are two types of sin mentioned. One does not lead to death and the other one does. The sin that does not lead to death is the one that is repented of and forgiven. The sin that leads to death is the one that is not repented of or forgiven. So the only sin that does not lead to death is the sin that is forgiven. 1John:5:17: All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

What is the only sin in the bible that will not be forgiven?

The Bible speaks of a "sin unto death" in Romans 6:16 and 1 John 5:16. Many bible scholars believe that this refers to a sin which can not be forgiven. Many feel that this refers to a person who rejects God's plan of salvation and completely turns his back on God. Those who are not willing to repent are not forgiven for their sin.

Is venial sin a Catholic construct?

Roman Catholic AnswerNo, "He who knows his brother is committing a sin that is not until death, shall ask, and shall give life to him who does not commit a sin unto death. There is a sin unto death; I do not mean that anyone should ask as to that." 1 St. John 5:16 (Douay-Rheims) The sin unto death is mortal, the sin not unto death is venial. Venial is the Church's word for it, but the construct is Biblical, read St. John's first letter.
