In a nutshell, the flowering of American Literature really took hold through all of the 19th Century: It was then that Europe had to take heed of what was going on, and coming overseas. Americans, and their ideas, beliefs, and writings now had an established voice; one that was beginning to take on Europe's ancient histories with a more exotic, distinctively modern counterpoint...The New World was now part of the international game of Literature/Publishing.
