How did teotihuacan expand?

Around the main pyramids there were several huts made of adobe bricks and palm ceilings. Due to its disuse, only the pyramids stand while the rest of the buildings were destroyed either by human hands, or by the forces of nature (rain, wind, earthquakes).

Commonly believed to have been built by the Aztecs, Teotihuacan was built by an unknown civilization which disappeared 800 years before the Aztecs reached the Mexico Valley in the 14th century. The Aztecs named the city as Teotihuacan (City of the Gods), but the actual name of the city and its civilization have been lost in the sands of time.
