As you may know, they revolted and broke away from Britian. They first revolted peacefully and unpeacefully by sending the king of England their rights or they attacked the taxcollectors. They tarred British officials and offended their soldiers.

Yes, the colonists were justified. They had been asking for Parliament representation for a decade, without results. The actions of Parliament was retaliatory, and created resentment that had not previously existed in the colonies. Diplomacy probably would have curtailed the revolution. However, Parliament attempted to subjugate rather than negotiate.
The colonists were forced to pay taxes and allow soldiers into their homes without any say. All of the debts of the French and Indian War were placed upon the colonists. The colonies were not included in this legislation, thus the saying 'no taxation without representation'.
