The Aztecs decided who to sacrifice by either taking war prisoners and laying them on top of a stone at the top of a pyramid and have their chest cut open their hearts ripped out and then tossing them down the pyramid steps. They also sacrificed them by tying them to a pole and shooting arrows at them. One other way was they would take a newly wed couple and toss them into a pit of fire and watch them burn to death.
