During the American Revolutionary Period, the Boston Massacre added to the growing tensions between the Colonies and their British overseers in a dramatically tangible and also emotional way. The physical deaths of five colonists in March of 1770 were labeled as atrocities by many Americans; the nation as a whole was led into further thinking (and even activism) concerning the possibility of breaking British rule once and for all.

Paul Revere made the Boston Massacre seem bigger than it really was. When he published the picture and description, he made it seem like the British soldiers shot and killed people just for the heck of it, which angered the colonists. But the only reason why the soldiers shot was because a mob of colonists were throwing sticks, snow-covered rocks, and other large objects at them.

It was the first killing between Great Britan and the Colinies and the colonies saw that Britan was not on their side. This was a leading cause to the Revolutionary War.
