The Europeans believed that the earth was there for them to take to improve their lives both physically and monetarily. They destroyed whole forests to plant more and more crops. The American Indians believed that the lands were entrusted to them by the Creator. They believed they had to maintain that trust by not taking more than they needed, whether it was animal or trees.
The Europeans wanted to own and develop the land, whereas the Native Americans believe the land was for everyone, not for one individual to own.
