The Iraq-Iran War 1980-1988 allowed the Iraqi Forces to gain experience for future conflicts. Operation Desert Storm Jan/Feb 1991, only lasted approximately 30 days, but allowed the Iraqi Forces to experience a more highly technical enemy than they had experienced when fighting the Iranians about 3 years earlier. Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003, went just as well as Desert Storm did 12 years earlier, then degenerated into a "Police Action" in which the restoration of Law & Order, and Stability to the country has become the primary mission of the region (country).
