Italians & Germans. They were the Axis powers of Europe. Italian troops invaded Egypt from Libya. Libya was an Italian colony. British & Commonwealth troops (& airman & sailors) defended Egypt and pushed the Italians back into Libya. German troops were then sent to Libya to help the Italians.
In WWII, the British, Americans, and Free French defeated the Germans and Italians in North Africa.
Eisenhower and his men were not involved in driving the Italians from North Africa. Indian, British and Australian troops actually drove them out in 1940.

Italy was on the verge of losing North Africa to the British, and only Mussolini's invasion of Greece had postponed it. Hitler knew that if Great Britain knocked Italy out of the war, the British could then turn all of their forces against Germany. For the investment of a few German divisions, Hitler supported the Italians and kept the British occupied in North Africa while he concentrated on his new enemy, Russia.

General Erwin Rommel(he became Field Marshal Later) General Rommel did not lead the Germans "into" North Africa. He joined the German forces there after they were sent to help the Italians. At first, the Germans and General Rommel were under the command of the Italian Commando Supremo. It wasn't until Hitler promoted Rommel to Field Marshal was he the highest ranking general officer in Italy.
