The ancient Mayans were very sofisticated in many ways. Their calendar ran for 5000 years. Their 5000 year calendar will end December 21, 2012, or winter solstice (shortest day of the year). It also aligns with an occurance where the earth's axis deviates every 26,000 years. This may have been what they considered the end of the world.
No the world is not going to end in 2012. Wanna know why? Well please listen closely. The Mayans were supposed to be like ok in smartness. And one day some of our explorers found a calendar made by the Mayans that ended in the end of year 2012. Its not true I'm pretty sure they would mark on the the calendar somewhere that the world was going to end because heck yeah that's important so it probably just where the Mayans stopped making their calendar.
because they dont know any thing and they are messed up
The Mayans used the December 21, 2012 date, which is winter solstice (shortest day of the year) on their calander as a cataclysmic upheavel in the world as we know it.
The special significance of the year 2012, which is, of course, the next year after this one (as I type) is that the calendar used by the ancient Mayan civilization ended at the equivalent of the year 2012 (although of course that year was not assigned the same number by the Mayans, who were not Christians and who did not count years starting with the birth of Jesus). Many people have wondered why the Mayan calendar ended in 2012, and one speculation is that the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 because the Mayans knew that life on Earth would not continue past that year. However, this is a very wild hypothesis which is not particularly believable. There is no good reason to think that 2012 is the year that life (or perhaps just the human race) will end on Earth, and there is also no good reason to think that the ancient Mayans had some secret knowledge of the future that we do not have in the 21st century. It is more likely that the reason that the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 is that, at the time that calendar was made, 2012 was so far in the future that there didn't really seem to be any need to make plans past that date.
No it's fake, world COULD end in one minute, next week or tommrow, we do not know wats gonna happen but 2012 is only a movie that frightened people, how would the mayans know?
The ancient Mayans predicted that something very important/ life changing will happen in 2012. So of course the first thing we assume is that it will be the apocalypse. We don't know if the Mayans simply stopped making calendars or if the world will end or if it's all bullcrap :P -zutphen aven
Stupid. Go to church for the answer. Bible- God is the only one that know when the world is going to end. NOT THE MAYANS STUPID. GO TO CHURCH FOR THE REAL ANSWER.
The ancient Mayans are just one of many that have named December 21, 2012, as the date of some kind of global upheavel. What that will be, we don't know until it actually happens.
2012 is not the end of the year it is a spam the mayans predict the world is going to end o know i dont give a what the mayans think but it is true it will end there will be zombies bazinga have a good will 2013 HA AH AH
December 21, 2012. or 12/21/2012 Many have believed that the Mayans "predicted" the world to come at an end on 2012. This is not so, their calender just ended on that date. Maybe they just ran out of paper, GOD KNOWS!
no the world will not end in 2012, i guess no one believes in God, but it will go on forever and ever and ever.Update: The world will not end in 2012. The Lord did say he will have a rapture, but we don't know when. It's not like the world will explode in 2012. The assumed reason the Mayans stopped making the calendar was that they got sacked and killed off before they could keep going.
No. The Mayans did not predict 9-11 any more than Nostradamus did, and in fact much less so. Neither have they predicted the end of the world in 2012; their calendar happens to be ticking over in that year, and the hype asociated with this is just a replication of the 'Y2K bug'.
