Mesopotamians veiwed their gods as all-powerful, and an irritation from man could resolve in punishment with the use of natural forces. Mesopotamians lived to please the gods in hope of a good or better life.

By and large the Egyptian people believed their gods and goddesses to be protectors of the balance in creation and providers to human gifts. This does not mean that the Egyptian gods and goddesses did not show wrath to humanity, indeed they did when humanity offended the gods and goddesses, but the gods were not unnecessary cruel.
