I think it got famous because when sims 1 came out, it was the only decent game around. To them sims 1 was modern, new and fantastic! So when sims 2 came out, most people obviously wanted to play it because they liked sims 1. Like if you watch a movie you like, you really want to see the 2nd one. the same thing happened with sims 3. Also more and more kids are going on the internet, watching telly and of course you tube so I guess The Sims 3 news kinda spread around pretty fast....LOL......
