The reparations mandated under the conditions of the Versilles Treaty may have contributed to the economic chaos that Germany was encountering. It was a bankrupt nation searching for a way out of its predicament and a new but radical political ideology offered a rebirth to the nation. Nazism was an attractive option.

The Treaty of Versailles ended World War I. The war caused a lot of damage to people and property. Then the treaty made Germany pay for damages. This caused a world wide depression because Germany didn't have the money to pay for the damages. People were starving and fighting for bread. Hitler blamed the problems on the Jews. Hitler also got the economy going by military spending and then invading nearby countries.

The treaty took away many things from Germany, made they pay for all the damages, and reduced their military size. Germans werent happy with that. The anger stayed hidded in the German people, until Adolf Hitler arose the anger again. He made false promises and persuaded the people to join the nazi people and follow him. He also blamed this all on the Jewish people, which then led to concentration camps.

Though WWI was caused by several factors and nations, of which Germany was only one, the Treaty of Versailles humiliated Germany. This caused widespread resentment among the Germans. In addition it required them to pay a huge payment to the victorious nations. This resulted in an economic chaos and great hardship which further incensed the Germans.

This resentment laid the groundwork for Hitler, who played on it to mobilize the German people to support him.

It's my opinion that the Treaty was seen as onerous and oppressive by many world leaders at the time, causing them to turn a blind eye to Hitlers gross violations thus allowing him to build a powerful military which was also forbidden by the Treaty.
