Escalate was the media's & politicians term for "turning the war FROM a guerrilla war INTO a conventianal war."

Another words it went from soldiers fighting soldiers on the ground to bombers, tanks, and battleships (one).

Why? or How?-Due to the Tonkin Gulf incident...another "politically correct term" during the cold war days...an "incident"; it was a SEA BATTLE (two of them).

1. One was a sea fight between 3 torpedo boats of the NVN 135th Torpedo Squadron against the destroyer USS Maddox.

2. Second was a sea fight between the "Tonkin Ghosts" and the two destroyers USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy. Tonkin Ghosts were false radar images.

Both together are called, "The Tonkin Gulf Incident" (Singular)
