The fact that many aborigines continue to hold on to some of their dreamtime beliefs does show that their forefathers resisted the imposition of Christianity, at least passively. Some have also adopted Islam, not so much out of a sudden awareness of Islam as more true than Christianity, but because if they can no longer return to the old ways, they do not wish to remain in a religion they associate with dispossession.
