Buddhism incorporates the idea of reincarnation - being part of a cycle of death and rebirth for untold countless cycles. Unlike brownian motion in particles which always passes back through the same point after enough repetitions, the cycle of death and rebirth is driven towards enlightenment by the desire to avoid suffering. Part of this process is the eventual incorporation of the Middle Way into your life and the acceptance of the Eightfold Path as a guide. For some folks this is a short journey, for others almost endless. So the answer to the question - the Buddha trusted that people's innate Buddha nature would eventually nudge them towards the Middle Way, enlightenment and Nirvana.
you need to be more specific. Believe about what? If you mean what the Buddha taught us, we believe it all.

The Buddha said that people do not have to believe in gods to receive enlightenment, but that they can believe in gods if they wish to do so. Thus, the is that the Buddha did not find out about God at all. However, he would have approved of people believing in God, provided that they exercise tolerance towards those who do not.
Buddha saw the world as it is. Mohammed saw the world as he wished it to be. Jesus saw mankind as he would wish it to be. I can't believe that any of them really had a clue about the afterlife.
Budha is not a God he was a Prince of ansient Hundustan(India) his real name was Siddhartha Gautama.(c. 563-479 BC), he become a first teacher of non violence. As Buddha was a real person anyone can believe in him. As the belief in god(s) is a matter of personal choice some people believe in god(s) and some don't.So the set of all people who believe in Buddha would include parts of the set of people who believe in god(s).Whether there is a set of people who consider themselves to be Buddhist (as opposed to those who believe only that there was a historic Buddha) who also believe in god(s) (which is contradictory to the teachings of Buddha) is not possible to determine from any existing information.
The Buddha specifically forbade his followers from making statues or other items depicting him for fear that they would turn him into a deity or start worshiping him. As time past this obviously was not followed. This explains why all artistic depictions of Buddha are different, because there are no images of Buddha from his time lifetime.
People would worship Buddha in a temple.
In a fight, Confucius would win as Buddha is an enlightened pacifist and would not fight back.
The Buddha would be the right way to say it. "The Buddha" is a title used in the same way as other titles such as "The President" or "The Pope" when referring to the individual by title and not by name.
no if they did that would be the silliest thing in the world!
Siddartha Gutma (the Buddha) believed he would reach Nirvana, the Buddist version of heaven, because he was Enlightened.
